Lips can be difficult to treat due to their mobility and dense vascular network, therefore they require a specifically developed product. The practitioner forms an integral part of this treatment by defining the lip contours, increasing lip volume, treating wrinkles around the mouth and rehydrating the lips.
What are lip enhancement products made from?
All of the products used at Cedar House Clinic contain non-animal stabilized Hyaluronic Acid (NASHA).
Because Hyaluronic Acid occurs naturally in the body and is present in all living organisms, it means that once it is in the skin, it works together with the body’s own hyaluronic acid
and joins forces to create volume.
No pre-testing is required for these types of products.
How do these treatments work?
A simple injection is placed under the skin at dermis level with a very fine needle; this replenishes the skin’s natural volume, enhancing lips and smoothing out lines and wrinkles, thus helping to erase the signs of ageing.
How long will the treatment take?
The treatment takes approximately 15-30 minutes, and the results are immediate.
Is the treatment painful?
For the sensitive areas, an anesthetic cream is applied to the area before treatment and some clients may be advised to have a dental block. If Juvaderm is used however, this already contains local anesthetic and therefore some people feel no requirement for additional topical anesthesia with this product.
Are there any side effects?
Occasionally some people may experience redness, slight swelling or itching and tenderness in the treated area but these reactions are quite normal and usually disappear within 1 to 6 days.
To maintain the desired effect most clients require two treatments a year.
Results
The results of this form of treatment are immediate and the effects can last from 3 to 12 months, depending upon which product is used. The length is quite specific to each individual. All of our dermal filler treatments are absorbed naturally over time. It is completely your choice when you choose to have further treatment to maintain the effects.
